Ethics Guidelines

Upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical conduct in research and publication.

Research Integrity

Originality: All submitted work must be original and must not have been published previously in any form.

Honesty: Authors must present their research honestly and accurately, without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation.

Transparency: All sources of data, funding, and potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed.

Reproducibility: Research methods and data should be described in sufficient detail to allow replication by other researchers.

Authorship and Attribution

Authorship Criteria: All authors must have made significant intellectual contributions to the research and writing process.

Order of Authors: Author order should reflect the relative contributions of each author to the work.

Corresponding Author: One author must be designated as the corresponding author responsible for communication with the journal.

Acknowledgments: Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

Plagiarism and Citation

Zero Tolerance: JYI maintains a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism in any form.

Proper Citation: All sources must be properly cited using appropriate academic citation formats.

Self-Plagiarism: Authors must not submit work that substantially overlaps with their previously published work without proper citation.

Detection: All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software.

Peer Review Ethics

Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain strict confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts.

Objectivity: Reviews must be conducted objectively, based solely on academic merit and adherence to journal standards.

Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves when appropriate.

Timeliness: Reviewers must provide timely, constructive feedback within agreed timeframes.

Data and Materials

Data Availability: Authors should make their data available to other researchers when ethically and legally possible.

Data Integrity: Raw data must be preserved and made available for verification if requested.

Materials Sharing: Unique materials, such as biological samples or software, should be shared with the research community when appropriate.

Data Protection: Sensitive data must be handled according to applicable privacy laws and ethical guidelines.

Human and Animal Research

Institutional Approval: Research involving human subjects or animals must have received appropriate institutional review board approval.

Informed Consent: Human subjects must provide informed consent, and this must be documented appropriately.

Animal Welfare: Research involving animals must follow established guidelines for animal welfare and care.

Declaration: Authors must declare compliance with relevant ethical guidelines in their submissions.

Conflicts of Interest

Disclosure: All authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could influence their work.

Editorial Independence: Editorial decisions must be made independently of any commercial or financial considerations.

Reviewer Independence: Reviewers must be free from conflicts of interest that could compromise their objectivity.

Transparency: Any conflicts of interest will be disclosed in published articles when relevant.

Publication Ethics

Simultaneous Submission: Authors must not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously.

Duplicate Publication: Previously published work must not be submitted without proper acknowledgment and permission.

Corrections and Retractions: Authors must cooperate with editors in correcting errors or retracting articles when necessary.

Post-Publication: Authors remain responsible for their published work and must address any concerns raised post-publication.

Misconduct and Sanctions

Investigation: Allegations of research misconduct will be investigated thoroughly and fairly.

Due Process: Individuals accused of misconduct will be given the opportunity to respond to allegations.

Sanctions: Confirmed cases of misconduct may result in sanctions including retraction, publication bans, or notification of institutions.

Appeals: Individuals may appeal decisions through established procedures.
